The Deputy Spokesperson for Alan Kyerematen’s campaign, Richard Nyamah, says events that unfolded over the weekend during the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) super delegates’ conference have been a hard lesson for his side not to put their faith entirely in the party’s leadership.

According to him, the inaction of the party to swiftly address widely reported electoral irregularities and violence, particularly, the assault of an electoral agent belonging to the Alan campaign team is a clear message that they are on their own.

He said, as a result, his side has decided not to put their confidence in the leadership of the party and are putting in place measures to safeguard themselves and their interests ahead of the November 4 polls.

Speaking on JoyFM’s Top Story, he said, “What we have learnt from this very conduct is that we would have to be our own keeper. We will be prepared and ready on November 4th. We are not going to put our faith in the party because they have shown us that they can’t be trusted.

“They will bring guidelines, the guidelines on the D-day are flouted across the country and nobody is interested in that. When you’re done they will take you through constitutional processes that end in nothing.

“So, we would make sure that we are ready physically, spiritually whatever way it is on the D-day. We’re not going to wait for anything to repeat itself and then we’ll go reporting and having investigations. It’s an aftereffect. The point is that fortunately, this is a learning curve, they have taught us the hard way.”

Mr Nyamah has accused the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of meting out selective justice.

According to him, since a regional coordinator of the Alan Kyerematen campaign team was assaulted in Nalerigu in the North East region during the super delegates’ conference, the party is yet to reach out to the victim or condemn the violence that erupted.

He said the actions and inaction of the party are sending a clear message that those on the Alan team are unwanted.

He said, “Do you realise since this incident happened, it’s been four days? Have you heard or seen any condemnation officially from the NPP as a party? The NPP as a party has officially not reached out to us, not the agent that was beaten to pulp and his eye virtually bulged out, nobody has bothered because it doesn’t matter, it has happened to an Alan agent.”

Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has personally condemned the attack on his campaign coordinator.

The NPP flagbearer aspirant asserted that the party should not “put a shine on this kind of incident”, adding he was frankly disturbed by the incident.
